It all actually started from the summer of 2016, when I was working as a music instructor at a music institute of which the chairman asked me to conduct a workshop on jazz theory and improvisation techniques.
I accepted and decided to prepare a resource booklet for my students. Supposably, my work expanded gradually to what became a full-scale book on jazz history, theory and improvisation.
“Jazz, This Personal Mountain” was named after an album by Keith Jarrett’s European Quartet: Personal Mountains; Not only because of my huge respect for Keith’s vision and career but also because I see the art of improvisation, fundamentally as a psychological challenge which could be compared to ascending a personal mountain from the artist’s point of view.
I have got my book published by Sorood Publications (an Iranian authentic music book publisher) in the summer of 2021; and the book is now widely available in Iran.
